Synesthesia Pricing

A Synesthesia license comes in three types: trial, standard, and pro:

A trial license is free and allows you to try out the software before purchasing. Visual output is watermarked with the Synesthesia logo.
A standard license removes the watermark and unlocks all the main features of the software.
A pro license includes all standard features and adds advanced functionality for complex visual workflows.

A standard license can be upgraded to pro at any time by paying the difference between the two licenses.

A year of software updates can be purchased for $60 for both standard and pro licenses. The first year of updates is included for free when you purchase or upgrade a license. Synesthesia licenses never expire — you can use your latest version forever. Learn more about updates below.

Synesthesia offers a 50% educational discount on licenses for students and teachers (learn more).

Updates

A year of software updates can be purchased for $60 for both standard and pro licenses. The first year of updates is included for free when you purchase or upgrade a license.

This is not a subscription — pay once and you can use Synesthesia forever. When your year of updates expires, you can continue to use your current version indefinitely. You have the flexibility to choose if and when you purchase another year of updates. Whenever you purchase updates, you will get all the updates released to that date.

If you are eligible for a minor version update (1.1 → 1.2 for example), you will have access to all of the patches and bugfixes for that version, even if they are released after your updates expire. If you download 1.1.0 and your updates expire a day later, you will still be able to access 1.1.1, 1.1.2, 1.1.3, etc.

Educational Discount

Synesthesia offers a 50% educational discount on licenses for students and teachers. This discount applies to all license purchases, including upgrades and updates. To request an educational discount, follow these steps:

Create a Synesthesia account using your institutional .edu email address
Email support@synesthesia.live from the same .edu email address with a photo of your student or faculty ID

This educational discount status expires every 2 years. After expiration, you can apply again to renew your discount.
